World Leader and Innovator

With corporate offices located in Clearfield, UT, Albion Minerals is the world leader and innovator in mineral amino acid chelate nutrition.

Since the company’s establishment in 1956, Albion has sought to manufacture highly bioavailable nutritional mineral forms, understand their function, and prove their effectiveness through third party research and clinical studies. This deep understanding and continued research has kept Albion on the leading edge of product development and application.

Albion has an affiliated distribution network that reaches into nearly 100 countries. Throughout the world, the company is known for its clinically researched organic mineral compounds that nourish and enhance human health, including mineral nutrition for medical foods, dietary supplements, sports nutrition formulations, fortified foods and pharmaceuticals.

Company History

Albion was founded by Dr. Harvey H. Ashmead in 1956. As a pharmacist, Dr. Ashmead brought his prevailing philosophy “to help improve the circumstances of his fellow man” to his fledgling company—a philosophy that still exists at Albion to this day. Dr. Ashmead believed that improvements in the nutritional status of people worldwide were sorely needed. To this end, he devoted his life to researching nutritional issues and improving the bioavailability of minerals.

DeWayne Ashmead worked side by side with his father, Dr. Harvey Ashmead as they shared the same desire for understanding and innovating mineral nutrition. As the current president of Albion Laboratories and chairman of the board, DeWayne has carried on his father’s passion for the nutritional application of scientific research.

Through decades of research, Albion has identified crucial parameters that make minerals more effective in the body. Albion’s chelated minerals are:

1. Easier to absorb
2. Easier to tolerate
3. Stable and less reactive
4. Safer than inorganic minerals
5. Produced under high quality standards

Product Highlights

Iron Taste-Free

Iron Taste-Free is a patented ferric glycinate ingredient. It may be used effectively even in foods, beverages and pediatric suspensions. Albion evaluated the buffer capacity of a number of ingredients, and found that by maintaining an acidic environment and allowing it to stay in-solution in the duodenum, Iron Taste-Free was better buffered and more bioavailable.

TRAACS

Albion is unique in that it verifies that its mineral products are fully reacted chelates through fast-fourier transforming infared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. This technology identifies the bonds between the ligand (amino acid) and mineral. Albion can guarantee each batch of minerals has the molecular structure indicating that chelation has occurred. The company is proud to bring its customers the proven clinical benefits of a true chelated mineral. The TRAACS brand is your guarantee that Albion minerals are what the company says they are: mineral amino acid chelates.

Quality Assurance

Albion is dedicated to the quality concerns of its customers. The company’s glycinate chelates are produced in a facility that is:

• ISO 9001:2008 certified
• cGMP (current good manufacturing practice) certified
• Kosher
• Halal

Albion glycinate chelates are:

• Hypoallergenic
• Vegetarian and vegan friendly
• Nutritionally functional
• Of ultimate glycine:mineral molar ratio
• BSE free
• Non-GMO (genetically modified organism)
• Chemically validated (FTIR finger printed)
• Clinically researched

Research, Development and Clinical Substantiation

Nearly 200 studies have been conducted done on the efficacy, bioavailability and application of Albion minerals. Albion has an extensive in-house research team and works with dozens of research institutions, work that has resulted in approximately 120 research papers and more than 70 clinical studies.

In their ordinary form, minerals are inorganic elements and difficult for the body to absorb. Albion does the body’s work in advance by producing natural organic chelates that can easily be absorbed through the intestinal wall. A mineral amino acid chelate is “fully reacted” depending on the measurement of bonds between the ligand and the mineral.

Organic mineral amino acid chelates have been scientifically proven to be more easily absorbed into the human body and to cause less gastric upset than inorganic minerals. Part of the reason for this higher tolerance and bioavailability is that chelated minerals are absorbed intact and break apart in the intestine at ideal point for absorption. With the highest quality chelated mineral ingredients on the market, Albion is the world leader in mineral nutrition.
