Honoring Diversity: NUHS Offers New Naturopathic Medicine Scholarship
National University of Health Sciences (NUHS, Lombard, IL) has created the Black Naturopathic Opportunity Scholarship to nurture the field of naturopathic medicine, particularly in communities of color, and to increase the representation of Black/African-American physicians in complementary and alternative medicine.
“The scholarship has been designed to support naturopathic medicine, as well as National’s commitment to building diversity in the profession,” said Joseph P. D. Stiefel, NUHS president. “We’re very excited to be able to extend this opportunity to qualifying students.”
Recipients of the scholarship will receive 50 percent off tuition for their first and second trimesters of study in the naturopathic medicine (ND) program. Recipients will also receive one-on-one mentoring with a senior naturopathic medicine student. This will help facilitate access to support, advice, resources, and community to aid in their success.
The scholarship will be awarded to a limited number of qualified Black/African-American applicants who are first time, first-professional degree seeking students. Students must be admitted to the ND program and meet all other scholarship criteria to be eligible for the award.
Candidates are encouraged to contact the Office of Admissions at admissions@nuhs.edu or (800) 826-6285, and to visit www.nuhs.edu for more information about the scholarship, ND program, and visit events and opportunities.
