The Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM) has announced the reappointment of Gail C. Christopher, DN, (Chair), David S. Jones, MD (Vice-Chair), David Harris, BFA (Secretary), and Terry Cook, CFP, CIMA (Treasurer) as IFM’s Governing Board Officers for 2026-2027.
“I am immensely proud of the work of the board over the last two years, and I am honored to continue to serve as chair, supporting the strategic direction of IFM in actualizing its mission of the widespread adoption of functional medicine,” stated Dr. Christopher. “I am excited about the strides IFM is taking to raise the relevance, reputation, and rigor of functional medicine through its ACCME-accredited education and Certification Program governed by the first international certifying board in functional medicine, IBFMC.”
Over the last two years of IFM’s board leadership, the board supported and affirmed IFM and its leadership team in the transformation of its evidenced-based curriculum, recognizing and honoring its long-standing IFM Certification Program and voting for the establishment of the International Board of Functional Medicine Certification (IBFMC) and launch of the new Functional Medicine Certification Program.
“The strategic support and direction provided by the board is critically important as IFM works to further enhance our education and training, elevate the new Certification Program, strengthen partnerships, catalyze research, and advocate for functional medicine on behalf of patients and practitioners worldwide,” said IFM CEO Amy R. Mack, MSES/MPA. “It is an honor to continue serving at the direction of Dr. Gail C. Christopher and IFM’s board officers.”
IFM thanked Loren Israelsen for his service on the board, which concluded in 2025. In addition to the board officers, IFM’s board members include Jeff Bland, PhD, Mark Hyman, MD, Joseph Pizzorno, ND and Mack.
