The American Chiropractic Association (ACA) has announced that ACA Executive Vice President Karen Silberman, CAE, has agreed to a contract extension and will continue in her role with the new title of chief executive officer.
In making the announcement, the ACA Board of Governors applauded Silberman for helping the association navigate through significant organizational change and public health upheaval over the past eight years, enabling it not only to meet member needs but also to better tackle the demands and opportunities of modern health care.
Under Silberman’s tenure, ACA streamlined its governance structure, shifting to a competency-based board model, and launched a rebranding initiative that positioned ethical practice at the heart of members’ identity as ACA chiropractors. This resulted in ACA stabilizing both financially and operationally, becoming a more agile organization poised to advance its strategic goals and meet member needs effectively, according to the ACA.
Silberman also shepherded ACA through the COVID-19 pandemic without losing any staff and with limited effects on membership. Under her direction, ACA was able to support its members during a difficult time, ensuring they had the information and resources needed to effectively practice as part of the essential workforce.
“ACA has been fortunate to have Karen at the helm through some very challenging and uncertain times. We are grateful and look forward to continuing to work with her,” noted ACA President Marc Nynas, DC. “Her expert guidance and deep well of knowledge in governance, administration, budgeting, and strategic planning have kept us on course toward our goals.”
“I am grateful to the ACA Board of Governors and their continued trust in me. It has been a wonderful partnership over the past eight years, and I look forward to continuing our work together,” said Silberman.
