Logan University (Missouri) has welcomed three new members to its Board of Trustees: Kathy Boulet, DC (’89), DAAPM, FIACA, CCAC; Christine Goertz, DC, PhD; and Tara McConkey, CFA. The Board of Trustees is an elected body of professionals representing a broad range of experience and backgrounds. The group collectively guides Logan University leadership on its mission to be a diverse and engaging community committed to excellence in health sciences, education and service.
“Kathy, Christine and Tara bring years of experience and expertise in chiropractic care, research, integrative health, financial planning and executive leadership to our Board of Trustees. I am pleased to welcome them as trusted advisors as Logan University continues to look toward the future,” said Clay McDonald, DC (’82), MBA, JD, president of Logan University. “On behalf of the board, I’d also like to thank outgoing trustees Nicole Bennett, DC (’03) and Gregg E. Hollabaugh, who each graciously served the Board of Trustees for their maximum terms totaling nine years.”
Kathy Boulet, DC, DAAPM, FIACA, CCAC of Lewiston, ME, has been a practicing chiropractor since graduating from Logan University in 1989. She is a pioneer in hospital privileges for chiropractors, having completed a hospital externship while attending Logan and later obtaining staff privileges at Deaconess Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri. In addition to running a private practice, Dr. Boulet is employed at the VA Maine Health Care System’s Togus facility. In addition to providing chiropractic services she also serves as the whole health battlefield acupuncture lead and a mindfulness program facilitator.
Dr. Boulet currently serves on the American Chiropractic Association Board of Governors as vice president, ACA representative to the Council on Chiropractic Education, and HOD engagement task force chair. She is also on the state advocacy committee and chairs the state affiliations sub-committee. She remains involved in her state working with the standards of care initiative, senior board advisor and member of the legislative committee for the Maine Chiropractic Association. She is a member of the International College of Chiropractors, Maine Chiropractic Association, American Chiropractic Association, ACA College of Chiropractic Acupuncture and Androscoggin Chamber of Commerce.
Christine Goertz, DC, PhD of Durham, NC, is a leading expert in health services research and health policy, integrative health and spine pain management, and executive administration. Dr. Goertz is a professor and director of system development and coordination for spine health in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Duke University School of Medicine and core faculty in the Duke Margolis Center for Health Policy. She is also CEO of the Spine Institute for Quality (Spine IQ) and an adjunct professor in the Department of Epidemiology in the College of Public Health at the University of Iowa. Previously, Dr. Goertz served as vice chancellor of research and health policy at Palmer College of Chiropractic for 11 years.
Dr. Goertz currently serves as chairperson for the research committee of the World Federation of Chiropractic as well as the Board of Governors for the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute. She is a former member of the Opioid Workgroup of the Board of Scientific Counselors of the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, and a current member of the Interagency Pain Research Coordinating Committee, the Bone and Joint Initiative Low Back Pain Task Force, the Cochrane Complementary Medicine Advisory Board, and the Chiropractic & Manual Therapies editorial board.
Tara McConkey, CFA of St. Louis, MO, is director of portfolio management and consulting/senior vice president for Commerce Trust Company. Upon gaining a thorough understanding of a client’s needs and goals as well as assessing the client’s entire financial situation, she works with the investment research team to construct a portfolio to help clients achieve their long-term goals. With a deep knowledge of the market and experience in investment management, she serves clients with thought leadership, insight, and consulting services.
McConkey has more than 29 years of experience and previously served as a portfolio manager and team leader of TIAA-CREF Trust Company and as a portfolio manager for high net worth clients at Northern Trust Company in Chicago. She received her master of business administration degree and bachelor of science in business administration degree from Saint Louis University. Tara holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA St. Louis Society, for which she previously served as director.
