AANP NAMES NCMIC 2021 Corporation of the Year
The American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP) named NCMIC the Corporation of the Year at its annual conference held July 15-17 in Phoenix, AZ.
The award recognizes NCMIC’s decades of service to the profession, providing malpractice insurance and other financial products, educational resources and general support to naturopaths since 2001. For example, NCMIC has helped the AANP provide funding for state advocacy grants to help fund licensure efforts, worked with ND schools to provide riskmanagement resources and support for their work and offered student scholarships to the next generation of naturopaths.
NCMIC president, Dr. Wayne Wolfson, said the AANP’s honor is especially meaningful as NCMIC celebrates a milestone anniversary in 2021.
“NCMIC was founded 75 years ago by a group of chiropractors to do something no insurance company would do in 1946—insure chiropractors for professional liability, and 20 years ago, we expanded our circle to naturopaths,” said Dr. Wolfson. “We saw the need and the opportunity for NDs to have another invested champion for the profession and an advocate to help grow and advance their collective work and progress.”
Wolfson said NCMIC will continue to support the naturopathic profession in the future with the hope that it effects positive change for years to come.
“To that end, we provide funding for the Naturopathic Medical Student Association for Public Policy Fellowships that teach students the leadership skills necessary to help advance NDs legislatively,” he said. “We also help fund the Institute of Natural Medicine in their mission to increase public awareness of naturopathic medicine and patient access to licensed NDs.”
