IFM Expands Access to Annual Scholarship Program With Support From VOLO Health

by Shari Barbanel | June 29, 2026

IFMThe Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM) has announced that VOLO Health, LLC has provided a $50,000 grant to support Functional Medicine for All (FM4All), IFM’s annual scholarship program dedicated to expanding access to functional medicine training for clinicians serving medically underserved communities.

“We believe in following the data, and the evidence is clear: educating clinicians yields some of the greatest returns for better health,” said David S. Vogel, CEO/founder and chief data scientist at VOLO Health. “We share IFM’s commitment to empowering clinicians with the best tools to improve long-term health span. We’re proud to support IFM’s mission to train practitioners who bring functional medicine to the communities that need it most.”

Since the program’s launch in 2021, IFM has awarded 137 FM4All scholarships, totaling more than $369,000, to clinicians across 20 countries. These practitioners collectively care for nearly 6,000 patients each week, extending the impact of functional medicine to communities around the globe. Each year, IFM receives more than 225 applications from clinicians seeking to deepen their training and better serve patients. Since 2024, support from VOLO Health and VoLo Foundation has enabled IFM to increase the number of scholarships awarded to 20 clinicians per cohort.

“As demand for functional medicine continues to grow, so does the need for well-trained clinicians who can deliver personalized, whole person care, especially to medically underserved communities,” said Amy R. Mack, MSES, MPA, CEO of IFM. “Through education and training, IFM is advancing the field and equipping practitioners to improve patient outcomes globally. We are grateful to VOLO Health for supporting this important work.”

FM4All advances IFM’s mission to make functional medicine accessible to all people by supporting diverse and passionate practitioners who care for patients often overlooked by traditional health care systems. Scholarship recipients receive full tuition to IFM’s foundational course, Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice (AFMCP), along with access to virtual, facilitated discussion sessions with functional medicine experts designed to strengthen learning and clinical application.
